El CIMTT es un centro multidisciplinario del Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Su equipo directivo trabaja de forma articulada: cada integrante enlaza líneas de investigación, proyectos y vínculos internacionales, tejiendo una red de colaboración que sostiene el trabajo del laboratorio.
El foco del centro está en las comunicaciones ópticas inalámbricas (FSO y VLC), los sistemas 5G/6G, el energy harvesting, la visión por computador y la computación cuántica, con investigación básica y aplicada de impacto para el país.
